The Fox’s Realm — Day One to Today

It was first seen in Australia and soon migrated via airway to the United Kingdom and found a tabloid environment in which to flourish. Then, 30 years ago, on this day and month, it went on the prowl in New York City… It found a verdant landscape and rich hunting grounds

Today the Fox News reach has gone worldwide and the consequences must be seen for what Fox is and has become…

Opinion editorializing news…

In the U.S. the origins of the Fox brand can be traced back to the 1980s and in particular a 1988 presidential campaign and a prisoner release ‘Revolving Door’ advertising campaign that took down a candidate. The story has become a bit of a legend — how a Bush advisor, Roger Ailes and what was called at the time ‘dirty trick’ politics prevailed with a ‘down and dirty’ accusation of prison doors being opened. A nerdy Boston-type politico named Michael Dukakis told his staff that he was not going to get down in the dirt and respond to the Willie Horton revolving door attack ads.

Dukakis’ decision not to respond to the broadcast attacks and ads was initially described to his staff as a ‘high road’ approach. His so-called ‘high road’ approach was his end.

Dukakis’ end was Roger Ailes’ launch. The Ailes-produced ads put Ailes, the future Fox head, on the map. The Dukakis decision can be said to have changed American politics as George Bush Sr. was elected president and Roger Ailes went on to meet with a man named Rupert to pitch the start up of Ailes-produced, Fox-style politics in America with Fox News.

Today, on the 30th anniversary of the Fox News and the Fox way of business and news/opinion, we at Strategic Demands shine a spotlight on Fox News and the Fox impact…

Shining a light on impacts that made — and are continuing to make history — that is to say, Fox tabloid news presentation, personal attacks, distortions, drama and disinformation are now magnified with a worldwide internet delivery, algorithmic power, and a changed news and business of politics.

We do want to recognize the power of the Fox business model, even as we challenge it.

StratDem brings a different set of values and waves a different banner when it comes to the news business and the politics business. We also challenge, with our ‘Surviving Victory’ perspective, ‘Perpetual War’, the prevailing orthodox definition of National Security as we argue for ‘New Definitions of National Security’.

Let’s take today as a memorial, a day of remembrance, and a snapshot of the challenges.

One headlined article (below) captures the tenor.

Eco-warriors want to turn up the heat on your wallet to fund their climate agenda

This is beyond ironic as a headline as a war of choice following years of wars in the fossil fuel/oil-gas Middle East have delivered $$Trillions in costs to U.S. consumers and now another level of escalating prices of oil/gas/diesel/fuel oil/aviation fuel — and transportation, trucking… and agriculture, fertilizers (oil-derived/nitrogen-phosphorous-potassium (NPK), and food (eg, beef prices) etc. etc. with the U.S. debt spiraling upward and financial institutions warning of borrowing costs, the impact on the dollar, the bond market, etc. etc. etc

With all of this reality facing American consumers, what does Fox headline?

It’s predictable… attack those who are attempting to lower costs, increase U.S. competitiveness (e.g. in advanced technologies of clean energy, agriculture, food, health, education, research, advancing the well-being of the U.S. at home and the standing of the U.S. (and trading partners) across the world’s markets.

Yet, here we go again. Fox News is on the prowl.

Fox and its partner, the Heritage Foundation, roll out its drum beat of Big Oil and support of the current president’s Middle East agenda and ongoing war. This agenda also includes undercutting U.S. technology and electrification across industry. In other words, an agenda that delivers the near- and mid-term competitive advantage in electrified clean energy across the worlds in emerging markets.

The Fox opinion that influences ‘the base’ of the current president’s support, even as the price becomes evident, is what it is and deserves being spotlighted.

So today, on October 7th, 2026, we shine a light on the Fox, center stage, a dramatic presence that will go down in the annals.
